Description ghibo 2003-10-02 10:27:27 UTC
The PostScript output is wrong when the font StandardSymL
(from Standard Symbols L family) is used. Such fonts is part of the free URW
fonts distributed with ghostscript for instance.

Step to reproduce:

- add Type1 files s050000l.pfb|.afm to OOo fonts (it Standard Symbols L is
not listed in the fonts available).

- run OO and in menu Insert/Special Character select the font "Standard Symbols
L". Select some char in the table (eg. alpha, some math char, etc.) then press OK.

- Print it to file, using "Generic Printer" PostScript output.

- Look the PS file with some postscript interpreter, e.g. gv. The character
showed are not from Standard Symbols L fonts, but rather from
LucidaSans-TypeWriter (it's easy to distinguish, because LucidaSans-Typewriter
is a Sans Serif font, while StandardSymbolsL is a Serif font).

I have a similar problem with presentations. Saving as pdf, the symbol
fonts are missing... but only some of the time. And in one line of
text one symbol is present but the next is missing (cutting/pasting
doesn't fix the problem)!! Saving as postscript the same symbols are
replaced by LucidaSans-TypeWriter characters. This is true for both
Symbol and Standard Symbol L fonts. The attachment I just filed should
read:

- Delta E < 2 sigma (will try 3 sigma)

@hdu: I think this is something for you,
I tried this on Solars and it worked, us tried on Redhat Linux
and it didn't work... ==> a matter of font replacement?

.
Comment 6 hdu@apache.org 2003-11-27 17:30:26 UTC
HDU->ghibo: please provide the sample document and it's postscript output

HDU->PL: probably a duplicate to the "printer font symbol aliasing"
problem.
Comment 7 philipp.lohmann 2003-12-11 09:55:56 UTC
pl->hdu: The description seems to point to an error occuring with X fonts.
Comment 8 philipp.lohmann 2003-12-11 09:58:25 UTC
sorry, edited the wrong bug, assigning back to me
Comment 9 philipp.lohmann 2004-01-20 11:13:53 UTC
pl->hdu: duplicate to what ? And if it is, please close as duplicate.
Comment 10 hdu@apache.org 2004-01-20 13:25:35 UTC
HDU->MCI: Cannot recreate PL's problem here, please verify his fix from CWS
vcl7pp1r2 with an MWS that contains it, e.g. SRX645m25s1.

@ hdu:

I tried this with srx645m27s1. This seems to be fixed now...

set to worksforme...
Comment 12 mci 2004-02-16 12:11:42 UTC
