Description Unknown 2001-10-29 17:12:49 UTC
All preferences folders in Linux are by convention stored in hidden directories (e.g.,
beginning with a dot). However, OpenOffice does not hide its user-level config directory.

Provided that the default My Documents directory is changed to the user's home directory
(Issue 2058), OpenOffice should follow the standard convention and hide its config
directory (by making it begin with a dot).

I use Linux, but I suppose this is an issue for other UNIX-like systems as well.

Maybe worth for a change in our behaviour to show folders and files in the file-open dialog ?

Has to be evaluated, but in general you are right.

Red Hat has a patch in their version of OO.o 1.0.1 that changes the
install directory to ~/.openoffice, which sounds like what you
suggest. I think they also make sure that the open/save dialog never
defaults to a location inside ~/.openoffice .

This seems reasonable, though perhaps made an installer option.

Hi,

I think we can close this issue now...
Comment 8 mci 2006-09-27 21:10:14 UTC
hmmm, the Office (SO8PU3v2) doesn't show hidden files in the FileOpen-Dialog and
the user-level configuration folder is hidden...

I'm going to close this issue...
