Description captainusnr 2003-10-01 01:18:00 UTC
When I set up a custom style in a text document that has a header and a footer I
save that file. I then open a Master Document and import the file. The text
imports but the Header and Footer do not import. This is either a code error or
a user error (probably). However if it is a user error, it is not because I
haven't tried to learn how to do it. In addition to on line help, I am using
the Solveig Haugland/Floyd Jones book OpenOffice.org 1.0 Resource Kit book.

I can send copies of the files upon request.

All the best.

The problem is not importing into MS Office. The problem is importing
into a Master Document. Open OOo 1.1.0 and go to Files-New-Master
document. The Navigator dialog should open. If not hit F5. Then in
the Navigator go to the fourth button from the left. This is the
insert file button. Hit this button and one of the three options
should be File. Use this button to import the file I sent you
"Executive Summary.swx". What should happen is that the file is
imported into the Master Document with the Header and Footer. This is
according to the documentation. The Master Document is used to import
sections of a report, where each section can have a different Header
and/or Footer. I am trying to created a Master Document where on the
title page there will be no Header or Footer. All of the following
Headers are the same, and the footer varies by section, Executive
Summary, Hawthorne Army Ammunition Depot, Resource Utilization,
Tourism, Industrial, Reform of the Business Process and Conclusions.
Unfortunately, I can not make the Master Document import the headers
or footers.

Notice, that at no time am I using Microsoft Office. All the work is
being done in Open Office.

Any help will be appreciated.

All the best.

hello reporter,

documents inserted into a md just just take over the page style of the
md, so all pagestyles of this documents will be lost. to set a style
insert a document into the md and than set the page attributes.
this is a known issue. i will set this issue to enhancement to show
remind the responcible person in the importence of this enhancement.

enhancemend -> masterdocument should take over the pagestyle of the
inserted docuements

reassigned to bh
changed issue type to enhancement
