Product Requirement
Shared Formulas

Customer Need/Problem
In order to compensate the loss of performance made by the implementation of
64000 rows in Calc and to enhance the competing applications compatibility
shared formulas are needed.

Comment
Shared formulas are an implementation detail, not a customer need!

Product Concept
Shared formulas as a way to reduce memory usage for formulas won't be done for 'Q'.

Hi Lutz,

please decide what to do.

added keyword Q-PCD
Comment 3 lutz.hoeger 2004-02-19 06:47:57 UTC
Niklas, I admit that this one seems to request an implementation detail only. Is
there actually a performance loss caused by the change to 64K rows? If so can
this be compensated otherwise than implementing shared formulas?

Are shared formulas relevant to performance only or its this also a matter of
interoperablity?

If the answer to the later question is no, and the performance loss either is
insignificant (somewhere between 0 and less than 10%) or can be compensated for
otherwise within the "Q" timeframe, I suggest to close this task as "won't fix".
Otherwise we need to discuss it again.
Comment 4 niklas.nebel 2004-05-14 14:00:57 UTC
The change of the row limit won't affect performance (when issue 28834 is
resolved). Actually using more cells will use more memory, obviously.
Interoperability is not affected.

according to the announcement on releases
(http://www.openoffice.org/servlets/ReadMsg?list=releases&msgNo=7503) this issue
will be re-targeted to OOo Later.
