Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 20337
Q-PCD EaseOfUse-57 separate OOo modules
Last modified: 2005-08-10 14:56:04 UTC
Source Press Category UI Look Product Requirement A lot of extra modules listed in the startup tree navigation are rarely used. User would prefer to have instead of 'Text Document' list 'OpenOffice.org Writer' for example. And infrequently used items not listed there for user to scroll over every time they start OOo, such as Setup. Also reported as confusing what is a 'Master Document'--few people use master docs. Customer Need/Problem Startup Tree Navigation Confusing Comment cf. EaseOfUse-50, EaseOfUse-51 for changes in OOo 1.1 Eng Owner Matthias Mueller-Prove Product Concept OOo 2.0 will provide the user experience of being separate applications. The Start menu will reflect this in calling the items 'OpenOffice.org Writer', 'OpenOffice.org Calc', 'OpenOffice.org Impress', 'OpenOffice.org Draw', etc. The Options dialog and the File and Window menu reflact this change, too. Hello Matthias, this is a short summary of issue 17401: Needed is the possibility to structure the recently used documents list under the 'File'-menu (with application specific list). As you are already working also on that aspect within this PCD, I add this enhancement to this PCD-ID.
Spec for Options Dialog: The Options dialog of OpenOffice.org 2.0 will feature context sensitive sections. Not all available sections are shown to the user – just those that make sense in the given context of an active module. The labels of the sections do also change to promote the names of OpenOffice.org's modules. http://specs.openoffice.org/appwide/separate_modules/OptionsDialog.sxw
