The attached spreadsheet has a callout. The callout will be lost when convert 
to MS Excel format.

Yes I have this same problem too. A callout I created in 1.0.1 and 
saved in MS Office 97 format does not show when the file is opened in 
Excel 97.

Looking at this now, it would be more accurate to state that the
'pointer' of the callout does not end up in the correct place. Thus
the callout is not lost but its shape gets distorted on export. This
looks like a duplicate of issue 5426. I will check with Sven first
before re-assigning this.

Sven has confirmed that this is the known autoshape import problem of
issue 5426
