Description pratesi 2003-09-29 09:35:07 UTC
The attached OOo Writer document (and the attached corresponding PDF export)
contains a dotted list with a widely used type of dot, that, to my knowledge,
is also almost the only one available both in OOo and msoffice.
I am attaching also the file obtained saving the Writer document
as a .doc msword file; if you open the .doc with msword, a different type
of dot is shown, even though the wanted dot is available also in msoffice.
Maybe, the dot should be "mapped" differently by the corresponding
export filter.

I Can Not Reproduce the problem in OOo 1.1 Rc5, Win Xp Pro. it look
same after I open the sxw file in OOo and then save the sxw file to
doc, and open the doc in MS Office XP Sp2.
but reporter use Linux

Please explain more about your problem, your information is not enough
to investigate the problem. Please explain step by step. Thanks

Confirmed

I had to use Word Viewer for the .doc file. I've uploaded two
screenshots -- one of the .sxw file bullets (which are the same in the
.pdf file) and one of the Word Viewer bullets.

MRU->CMC: This happens, when only the OpenSymbol (and no StarSymbol)
is installed on a System. Could you please have a look if we need
adjustment in the filter or in the OpenSymbol font.

forgot to re-assign... :-(

Might have some relation to issue 19066, might be able to resolve this with an
additional alternative mapping for this symbol.

cmc->mru: I exported this .sxw to .doc with SRC680 m24 and opened in word on
machine which has no StarSymbol installed, there under tools->options->font
substition I see "lucidasans" mapped to "Times New Roman" and "StarSymbol"
mapped to "Arial Unicode MS", and I have bullets which are very similiar to the
original unavailable StarSymbol arrows. This is what I would expect and want to see.

Writer should create the same .doc whether or not StarSymbol/OpenSymbol etc are
installed. If there is an exact match in the older fonts of Wingdings/Symbol etc
then that should be exported instead of StarSymbol. If there is no exact match
then "Arial Unicode MS" should be set as the fallback font for MSWord to use if
StarSymbol is not installed (which is the normal case of course), so word might
display differently depending on if Open/StarSymbol is installed or not, but
should do a good job either way.

I also opened them with the free word viewer from MS and there they look the
same as the substituted Arial Unicode MS as in word itself.

Yes, I can see the same as CMC described. It is more a problem of Font
substitution in MS Word than in Writer's export.
