Description hapeck 2003-09-28 13:24:26 UTC
Hi,
I tried to install the RC5 on my system SuSE 8.1 / kernel 2.4.21 / AMD K6-II /
384MB. The problem arises with regular user rights as well as with root
privileges. the access control of X11 is set to localhost.

The install seems to unpack the files glibc 2.2.5 is reported,

Then there are the following errors reported and the install process aborted.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
./javaldx: error while loading shared libraries: libsal.so.3: cannot open shared
object file: No such file or directory
/tmp/sv001.tmp/setup.bin: error while loading shared libraries: libvcl645li.so:
cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

With earlier versions of OpenOffice RC or beta as well as StarOffice, i've had
no problems at all with installation.

I can't reproduce on my Suse 8.0 and 8.2 machines.I've tried the
install script and the setup link as root and as user. No errors. Have
you checksummed the downloaded file?
of -> jl: Any idea what has happened here?

Maybe the LD_LIBRARY_PATH environment variable is not set correctly.
This should be done by the setup actually. To find out if this is the
case, run the setup with the dontdeletetemp option. The option
prevents the temp directory to be deleted.

setup -dontdeletetemp

then cd into the tmp directory (e.g. /tmp/sv001.tmp) and start the
setup there

./setup

If the error still occurrs, then set the LD_LIBRARY_PATH environment
variable to include the current directory (or the tmp) directory and
start the setup again. If it works, then the setup failed to set the
variable properly.
Comment 3 hapeck 2003-09-29 15:49:29 UTC
I did run ./setup -dontdeletetemp
Then I did run /tmp/sv001.tmp/setup
It didn't work but reported missing libraries as before. By listing the
libraries in the above directory i found libsal.so.3 missing in the
installfile.
The libvcl645li.so reported also reported as missing is present.

So no success for me :(

Do you have libsal.so.3.1.0 in this temp directory? libsal.so.3 is a
link to libsal.so.3.1.0. I attach the required f0_047 to this issue
please copy this file to your OOo installation source and retry to
setup again.

Comment 6 hapeck 2003-10-01 17:37:46 UTC
I didn't have libsal.so.3.1.0 in the /tmp/sv... directory so i
concluded that it was indeed missing. I downloaded the the installfile
again and now it works (my first download was
OOo_1.1rc5_LinuxIntel_install.tar.gz - now i saw the german
installfile OOo_1.1rc5_030929_LinuxIntel_install_de.tar.gz which
worked flawlessly).

Thank you all for your efforts. I will get the final as soon as it's
available in german)

It's not really fixed because it has never been a bug but a damaged
download :-)
