Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 20239
Mysql database accces
Last modified: 2006-05-31 14:29:06 UTC
In the 1.1 RC and RC5 I have had been unsuccessful in connecting to MySql. I have tried both the ODBC with MySql ODBC 3.51 Driver and JDBC with MySql-connector-java-3.0.8 stable and 3.1.0 alpha. The same set up in OOo1.0.3 works every time. The message I get is "Unable to connect....". I have tried to reinstall 1.1RC5; uninstall 1.0.3 all to no avail. The MySql is active and accessible in MySql Control Center. The sample Bibliography and MS Access connections seem to work fine. It seemed to me when I first installed RC5 it worked for a while, but now won't work at all. Windows XP, OOo1.1RC and RC5 John Price johnprice@earthlink.net

I believe I solved this problem. I run Zone Alarm firewall and it was not recognizing that OOo 1.1.0 had clearance to access the internet. Once I corrected this, OOo seems to be now running properly. Of course it is not really going to the internet, but using a port for MySql access. I don't remember if I had to make the same change for OOo 1.0.3 or not. Perhaps, something in the docs to remind people to make sure firewalls aren't blocking access in this case. Thanks, johnprice@earthlink.net
John, could you (as the reporter) please resolve and close this issue then? Thanks.
