Description dogshed 2003-09-26 23:56:43 UTC
Keep ratio in graphic dialog box under type tab doesn't seem to do anything.
I couldn't find anything in help so maybe this is just a documentation issue.

I'm sorry, I thought I selected 1.1 RC5. I'll try to get a newer
version later. I found the ratio issue in 1.1 RC5. Thanks. -Jeff

if you check this button and change for example the width size the
high size will change automaticaly to keep the proportions of this
graphic

example keep ratio checked and with is 4cm and hight is 2 cm
now change width to 8cm -> hight will automatically change to 4cm

if you see that the size does not stay exactly on the round values (3,
98cm instead of 4 for the hight size for example) do not worry this is
a known bug

set to invalid

invalid -> closed
Comment 6 dogshed 2003-10-16 19:41:19 UTC
I thought it locked the ratio when you change the graphic size by
grabbing a corner or edge with the mouse pointer.
Should I change this to a documentation or enhancement?

ok, after reading the help i agree with you, this schould be a
documentation bug. the help does not make this feature clear to the
user.

set component documentation

In the Graphics dialog box, click the Help button and scroll down to
the entry 'Keep Ratio'. What exactly is unclear about the entry
"Maintains the height and width ratio when you change the width or the
height setting."

I expected it to keep the ratio when I resize with the mouse.
I'm not sure why I didn't see it in help before.
Maybe this should be a request for enhancement?

The documentation is apprenly correct, if it says that the ratio SHOULD be, that
is requested to be preserved. However, the acutal code does not honor this
check box!

I have found that at times, BMP files improted as graphics are indeed minimized
tothe size of a single character. Once can only "find them" by using the
Navigator.graphics.graphic# facility.

Irregardless of finding them, the code does not honor the request. In fact
this is easly demonstrated by simply checking the box, then manipulating the
graphic to an arbitrary form. Obviously, this is incorrect BEHAVIOUR (code
problem)
This is observed in the officel 1.1. release.
