Product Concept
A) As part of the 'Writer Frame/Drawing object unification' specification
drawing objects in headers/footers will be supported. All anchoring and
alignment methods that are existing for frames (i.e. text frames, graphics and
OLE objects) in Geordi but do not exist for drawing objects will be implemented
for drawing objects as well. Negative offsets will be supported for frames (they
are already supported for drawing objects in Geordi), but only if the 'wrap
through' option of frames/drawing objects is set as well. If other products
support anchoring/alignment modes that are not supported by Writer, these will
be added to Writer (to be checked by CMC). The different user interface for
drawing objects and frames will be unified. The complex UI for frame/drawing
object alignments will be simplified and adapted to one more familiar to users.

B) For headers and footers, a mode will be added where content that does fit
into the headers/footers height will be clipped the same they as it is done in
Word (CMC will provide spec for this). At the same time, the evaluation of
header/footer heights will be adapted to not include images that are positioned
outside the header/footer.

Functional Specification

Accept.

added keyword Q-PCD
Comment 3 caolanm 2004-02-12 08:57:55 UTC
cmc->od: I think it now makes more sense for this task to belong to you as you
are doing the major core work to enable this functionality of merging drawings
and flyframes in terms of equivalent positioning and ability to group them
together. And you've already enabled allowing drawings in headers for example.
You can write subtasks for mmaher for the winword side of importing and
exporting this if it becomes necessary, only very minor tweaks (if any) are
required in the filter to make use of this functionality when it becomes
available for drawings.
