Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 19777
Auto Save makes document lose the cursor position
Last modified: 2013-08-07 14:41:21 UTC
When editing a document in writer and autosave kicks in the document loses its focus _if_ additional windows like the ones for background colors etc. are open at the same time. Not only do you lose what you input while writer is (auto) saving (this is another issue already raised) but you also need to reposition the cursor in the doc. Not serious but annoying.

I can not confirm this in Windows. Make sure that Tools > Options > OpenOffice.org > Views > Restore Editing Views is checked. Please comment if this is still an issue.

Newest OOo versions don't have the AutoSave feature furthermore. In place of this there is AutoRecovery without the described problem.
Closed. Feel free to reopen this issue if the problem appears reproducible with AutoRecovery.
Please reopen this issue for 3.1.1. Similar problem appears with AutoRecovery. When you read the document by scrolling and without repositioning the cursor - after the auto recovery save is finished the focus is returned to the cursor position, not to the scrolled screen position.
