Description Unknown 2003-09-18 21:01:03 UTC
Applying properties and merging cells when trying to construct a table is
unreliable to impossible to achieve.
It gets progressively more impossible as the number of cells increases, even at
a basic 4 x 6 matrix fails. It is impossible with a table with a modest 4 (c) x
37 (r) so a more complex table has no chance.
I am trying to recreate these tables in OpenOffice as part of my attempts to
move from Lotus' SmartSuite (since development seems to have halted at IBM - it
does not yet incorporate UNICODE standards. Lotus's WordPro accomplishes these
same tables without any problems. If you have not already looked at WordPro's
capabilities might I suggest you do so as to give you an idea of what is
possible.
I have a sizeable list of the problems I encountered whilst trying to construct
these tables (I doubt that it covers all the issues) and if you wish (and let me
know the best way of letting you know) I can send you a larger document with
more detail.
The operating system I have been using RC4 on is Windows 98, but I had similar
problems constructing tables when working with 1.0.3 on Windows 2k.

Can you save the lotus file in rtf so it can give some idea.
or you also can try to ask help in user mailing list about how to d
somthing

I will allocate time today to try and figure the technique out that
causes this. If you can tell me where in OO it writes to this file,
that will really help. Does it write to the font cache when the font
is used once? Or when opening a document that came from Word? Some
users have normal sized font caches, and others had the huge ones. So
it's obviously technique/document related. Everyone has the same type
of thin client, and is running on the same server.
