Description kb0000 2003-09-18 12:10:01 UTC
word-files saved in OO 1.0.2 opens without text in OO 1.1RC4.

this is on linux.

reproducability: 2/2 documents.
steps to reproduce:
1. taka a word file created in word XP (in my case i got a file from another
person).
2. open it in OO 1.0.2 (all works fine).
3. do some changes.
4. save it, OO askes to change format, do NOT change format. but do save.
5. close, OO 1.0.2
6. open OO 1.1RC4
7. open the word file that you saved in wordformat in OO 1.0.2
8. no text is visible.
Comment 1 kb0000 2003-09-18 18:39:20 UTC
additional information.

this seems to apply to all files saved as wordfiles in OO 1.0.2 and
then opened in OO 1.1RC4. not only those first created by MS Word.

Please Attach the documents which make this problem, so we can test it.

(Without the documents, we cannot confirm the problem easily)
Don't forget to cut other part of the documents, so the file size is
small, but we still able to see the problem.

But I didnt have 1.0.2. maybe somebody have it can try it. how about
1.0.3 ?

Comment 3 kb0000 2003-09-19 08:56:32 UTC
now i had a chance to open a wordfile created in word, not edited in
OO, same problem. so this seems to apply to alla wordfiles.

Comment 6 kb0000 2003-09-25 22:53:27 UTC
in OO 1.1 RC5, word documents open, but the font is totally wrong.
OO says it is for example Times New Roman 12, but displays some other
font with size 16-20.

formatting is lost and it looks really bad.
the problem is visible with the files attached with this bug.

reassigned to mru

@mru: Please have a look to this...
I opened the files on Solaris using OO01.1RC5 and I think all went
      fine...
I'll attach a screenshot of it (I just don't know if the seen text
      is really all content)...

I opened the oo103win_good_oo11rc4lin_bad file on my Linux MDK 9.1
with the OOo680m11 build.

The file opens and displays fine. However, in the font dropdown menu,
it states that two fonts are present : Thorndale, and Times New Roman,
separated by a semi-colon. How can this be ? I thought that Thorndale
was only present in StarOffice and not OOo. I seem to remember that
1.0.3 contained a reference to Thorndale even though it wasn't present
in the fonts installed with OOo.

Does the fact that there are two fonts indicated mean that the first
is replaced by the second ?

Alex.

Tried the XP file under the 680m11 build on Linux MDK 9.1. The file
opens fine. The font is displayed as Times New Roman.
