MRU->AMA: The old problem... That is because, in OO Writer the header
and the bodytext cannot overlap, which is possible in Ms Word. I don't
know if it's already on PCD; if so, we can change the target to OO 2.0.

In word you're able to set the page margin to a negativ value which
doesn't make any sense for me. The surprising effect is that the
header blows up over the whole page and overlaps with the body. For me
it looks more like a bug than as necessary feature. Maybe somebody
convince me that this "feature" is really needed?
Comment 5 stefankalte 2003-09-18 16:12:50 UTC
hy all, i don't need this bug, because in ms-word i don't need it too,
but we have since now worked wirh ms office 97 and now we try do use
oo, but if we can't have the same result in oo as in ms office we
can't convince the user to use openoffice.
and always when a user is opening a old word-doc he has not the same
result as in ms-word.
I don't need this bug (negative margin, printer don't print it), but i
need the same result like in MS office in the headline.

Hi, I'll really appreciate for this feature(bug?) to be integrated in an near
release of OOo because number of documents in our hudge GED ("Electronical
Document Managment System" whould be a nice translation for this) use this bug.
This could make, as stefan explained it well, migration easier from MSO to OOo
on many desktops in my enterprise.

Hi,

Since my last post (in January ...), i wait each cvs build thinking this
bug/option is added, but nothing comes.
Isn't there a way this could be added in a 1.1.x version ?
Comment 8 stefankalte 2004-10-22 16:23:13 UTC
I don't know if there is some changed, i dont't tried to look for this bug in
the last releases.
Mybee OOo will be a real concurrent of MSO 97, because there will be added a lot
of function witch a normal user don't use and functions will not go correctly
what in MSO 97 will go.
The Migration in the private person is "ok" for textdocument and tabledocument,
the rest is not akzeptable,
for a firm the programm must be have always the same result like the leader in
this market segment in this case Microsoft.
I hope for migration finishing to OOo in my firm in the next 2 year, if not we
will stay for 100 pc at MSO 97 and the rest for OOoX.
at the end il will look next working days if this "bug" is resolved and will let
you know it, maybe somebody will answering before

morning,
i testet it under 1.1.3 and it don't work, but i think it don't will work for a
long time, because here the programm will be work like a layout-programm with
more levels, so the header and the fusszeile will be a level behind of the
normal textplace like word it do, but word is not a layout programm to.
if this problem it will be solved, it must work like grafiks with more levels,
and it must be behind the normal text.
greetings stefan

For my part, i recently tried a 2.0 snapshot (actually v1.9.56) and even in it,
it doesn't seem to work.
Is it so hard to add ?
:-(
Comment 11 andreas.martens 2004-10-25 15:14:12 UTC
Yes, it's hard to change our complete layout system into an overlapping
header/footer vs. normal text layout. This will not happen in the near future.
Our work-around is to import these fabulous header/footer into text frames which
are anchored into the header/footer and are allowed to overlap with the normal
text. This is not perfect and we have to put this frames behind the normal text
but that's all what we can achieve at the moment.

i looked in 1.9.62 and i see that the export of pdf is going to export fields in
fields in pdf, in pdf it's possible to use an layout on more levels, so mybe the
export from OOo to pdf witch is based on a layout-system with more levels can
give OO a chance to create direcly and betters PDF-formulars, but this is only
an idea of me.

by the way is it possible to make a watermark on a
OOo-document on a file, no printing and other possibilities, but making it
direktly on the OOo document. if i have time i will try it, but mybe this can be
a possibility to export and import the headers and footers from sxw to doc and
contrariwise!
thanks for your attention
