I can Reproduce the problem on
OpenOffice 1.1 RC4(default Install, US), Win XP Pro Sp1.
(And MS Office XP Sp2).
It is real problem

I Open the example.doc in word and in OOo writer and compare page iii
the different are:
1. There is no space between chapter number and chapter title
2. There is additional chapter 3 2 which is not exist in original

Reassigned to MRU
Comment 4 michael.ruess 2003-09-25 10:30:28 UTC
MRU->CMC: I don't really know, if the import can do anything here. The
Styles used in the TOC do not have the Tabs, which are present when
opening the file in OO.
If its a layout problem, please re-assign to ama with a comment.
Comment 5 caolanm 2003-09-25 11:03:59 UTC
Well the second issue is the same as issue 19686. So this is for the
first issue only. And this is a known problem where we don't have tabs
in toc's the same way as word does it.

cmc->hbrinkm: You will be working on allowing tabs like words in tocs.
This is the same as legacy bugtracker id #111387#.
Comment 6 caolanm 2003-09-25 11:04:42 UTC
The tab between chapter no and chapter title in the toc is a 2.0 task,
so retargeting.

FME: Unfortunately we will not be able to handle the tab stops between numbering
and chapter name in tables of contents correctly in the near future. Therefore I
added a small hack that inserts a blank between the numbering and the chapter
name. I'll set up a new issue "WW8 filter does not import tabs between numbering
and chapter name in tables of contents".
Comment 15 frank.meies 2004-12-16 06:55:06 UTC
Follow up task is issue 39120.
