Description jmills 2001-10-20 06:42:15 UTC
May be related to 1765.

My 638C installation won't start up any more - attempts to startup fail with
and "unrecoverable error has occurred", and 2 invalid page faults. I attach 4
entrieds from faultlog.txt.

the first 2 come from a single attempt to open a presentatin; the OpenOffice
splash screen appers, then I get asked to select a file; then it crashes, with
the first 2 faultlog entries.

Attempting to open a text document resulted in the second 2 error entries; I
was not asked to select a file this time.

THe 638C installation was made on top of 638 (?A?) when 638C came out.

Comment 1 Olaf Felka 2001-10-22 10:58:24 UTC
Did you try to install OOo638c into a clean directory? Does this version show the same behaviour?
Comment 2 jmills 2001-10-22 12:19:56 UTC
No, I just installed it so it was in the original directory. I did do
"replace all".

Like the reporter of 1765 I removed it with delete all files and
reinstalled
and got it going again.

as it had worked once something had broken.

Should there be a check to stop installations over existing
installations?
Comment 3 Olaf Felka 2001-10-29 15:09:46 UTC
The setup option 'Remove all files' will (hopefully) work in the next
build. This meand that _all_ files are removed.
If you install OOo over a existing version it should cause no problems
if they have the same minor. Due to the fact that we are still in
heavy progress this might still cause problems. But installing OOo final over OOo final should cause no problems.
A previos installed version was detected.
