Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 19543
Auto-Correct data disapears after you delete on entry
Last modified: 2013-08-07 14:41:36 UTC
Tools -> Auto correct De4lete one entry and the entire table is gone when you bring OOo back up. Reset, Repair both -net and local did not fix this the table is gone. It would seem the only fix is a complete reinstall. I personally think this si a little extreme. Jim TE
Confirmed RH9/1.1rc4 Repair does not restore the lost table. A Remove/install was required. Is this a duplicate of Issue 19543? Changing to P2. Tam
Confirming WinXPPro 1.1rc4 This behavior is also present in 1.1rc1, 1.1rc2 and 1.1rc3 but NOT 1.0.3.1 To reproduce: Select Tools > AutoCorrect/AutoFormat > Replace tab Choose first entry, copyright symbol and click "Delete". The replacement is deleted, and the remainder of the table is unchanged. Click "Okay". Reopen Tools > AutoCorrect/AutoFormat > Replace tab -- the table is empty. Closing OOo and restarting does not restore the table. Running Setup > Repair does not restore the table. Tam
Yep. In RC4 the entire program needs to be reinstalled. "Repair" does nothing. It's a real show-stopper for people who want a few changes.
Well this is interesting... I just tried to remove / install workstation. Remove all files... Still auto correct is empty. It will have to be a total new install -net... Sigh That makes this a very nasty bug. P1 in my opinion.
confirmed on win98/rc1
After losing replacement table trying to confirm -and succeeding- (Mandrake 9.1/OOo RC4) opening a large document (25 pages) with "collect words" ticked will rebuild a new table. However I dare not delete some odd entries which have appeared thereby. Loss of replacement table happened only when I closed OOo completely and re-opened it.
Well a remove and complete reload did not give me back my autocorrect. I think I am going to have to redownload and completely wipe OOo even to the directories. This is Very Very Bad! A show stopper in my opinion. Jim TE
I tried and confirmed this (RC1 on WinXP). But I think it only happens when you delete the *first* entry in the replacement table. Also, before testing I made a copy of the acorr2057.dat file (in OpenOffice1.1\user\autocorr; the "2057" bit depends on what language you are using). When I lost the table I just deleted this file and copied back the backup I had made. Back came the table. So deleting the first entry in the table seems to be corrupting this file.
Correction to the above. I've tested it a few more times and it can happen when deleting entries anywhere in the table, but not every time a deletion is made. I can't find any pattern to it at the moment - sometimes the table is gone, sometimes it isn't.
