Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 19536
numeral system
Last modified: 2019-10-06 16:55:58 UTC
Hi, I found that I can not enter more than one type of numerals either Arabic or Hindi but not both. MS Office allow one more option that is according to context, which enable the user to jump from one numeral system to another in the same word, line or document. Therefore it is an ergent for OOo to enable the user to mix different types of numeral systems in one line or one document.

What do you mean with "numeral systems"? Is it numbered lists that you mean? If so: This should be possible with defining new numbering styles, from within the stylist (F11).
No, it is not the numbered lists. What I mean whether you can enter numbers-- for example the number 2004--using Hindi numbers and Arabic numbers in one document. If you have MS Office you what I mean.

I am unable to replicate this bug. My specs are as follows: - Windows 10 Professional x64 on a Microsoft Surface pro 3. - Apache OpenOffice 4.1.2. My process: I added two new keyboard languages via Windows "Edit languages and keyboard options": Hindi, and Arabic (Algeria). Steps taken: 1. Open OpenOffice Writer 2. Swap to Arabic keyboard 3. Type numbers 0 through 9 4. Swap to Hindi keyboard 5. Type numbers 0 through 9 6. Save and close document 7. Open document I encountered no errors in the process. I also tried variants of the same task: - Save the document each time I typed a new string - Copy + Paste the sentence "The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog 1234567890" translated via translate.google.com in each of the respective languages into OpenOfficeWriter. - Use different variants of the Arabic keyboard (Algeria, Jordan, Morocco, Syria, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Tunisia, Egypt, Lebanon, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Iraq, Libya, Saudi Arabia, Yemen) None of the above variants resulted in any error.
