Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 19402
Incorrect record count in Datasource viewer (openoffice SXC datasource)
Last modified: 2006-05-31 14:29:06 UTC
Use for example the file attached to the bug report. Add it as a datasource into OpenOffice. Now in a Text document open the Datasource viewer (F4 or `View | Datasource` Menu) and select the table. The record count is incorrect for me, it show " Record 1 of 11 * " But the Calc file has more. It has 17 (in my case). To see the correct count i had to click on the `last record` button [ |>| ] just before the `add record` button [ * ] Even if I select all record using the upper left button (next to the field names) it doesn't select all (only the 11).

similar to 19401: This is no P2 (http://www.openoffice.org/issues/bug_status.html#priority), and you're not allowed to simply change a target. Correcting both.
This is no bug. We cannot know the number of records before we saw all of them, this is inherent in the concept of database tables (and spreadsheets are handled like database tables here). For this reason, we indicate the fact that the record count is not yet final with an asterik (*). You'll notice that the asterik vanises once you moved to the last (17th) record - this indicates that now the number *is* final. AFAIK, this is also explained somewhere in the help, but admittedly I am not sure :) For selecting the table: When you click into the upper left corner, then everything afterwards should behave as if the whole table is selected, no matter if all records are known. E.g., when you afterwards drag and drop the selection into a text document, then the whole table should arrive there. Everything else is a bug. So please describe in more detail why you think that *not* the whole table is selected - what are you doing afterwards what's going wrong then? Please submit a new issue for this - this one here is talking about "Incorrect record count in Datasource viewer", so the selection issue definately doesn't fit herein. I'm resolving this one as INVALID, since what you describe is no bug.
For the upper left corner selection problem described here, look at 19446 (Selecting all records using upper left button doesn't merge all records)
ah, ok, I added something to issue 19446, and will close this one here. Thanks.
