Description utomo99 2003-09-10 08:09:28 UTC
Sorry if it is not in correct location. because it is difficult to find correct
location for this.

I have some comments:
1. Better if we sort the help index, according to some criteria. Maybe such as
application which is used most: text, Calc, etc. or by other criteria.
2. If we click the Topics it didnÂ’t directly show the content at the right
window (it need double click). In MS Help, one click is enough and it dispolay
the content, in OO help, it need double click to get the content at the right
window.
3. I read people complaining about context sensitive help. If it is still exist,
I hope we can improve it, so people can get the help at the right positions,
which can make live easier :).

Thanks

Regards,

Utomo

Better help improvements:
For number 1.
We can sort the help by something like this: (so user will feel it
easier because it have some sorting criteria.
Installation
common help topics
text
spreadsheet
presentation
draw
html
database
Etc

For number 2, Single click make user use the help easier
Number 3, context sensitive help maybe little bit harder to implement
it in near future, but I hope we can improve it

Sorry, missing important info.
The help part which I mention here is in the Content Tab.
(open the help, go to content tab, look the ordering of the content)
Help in the content tab is not using good sorting criteria.
I suggest, ordering:
By something mostly people need it (from beginer to expert)
By mostly people search/have problem.

The sub folder order is better.

Thanks

Please use Issuzilla only to report specific issues. You can review
the guidelines for submitting an issue at:

The concerns raised in this issue are better suited for a mailing list.

No, it is not suitable in mailing list, as we need to Improve OOo help
so user will be easier to find offline help. and it can reduce
question in the mailing list and also make OOo easier to use.

If we want specific, we take number 1.

FPE:

> Help in the content tab is not using good sorting criteria.

I disagree. Grouping the topics classified by their category
is the only sorting criteria that makes sense.

> I suggest, ordering:
> By something mostly people need it (from beginer to expert)
> By mostly people search/have problem.

So these are already two ordering schemes.
Which one should we use? Who tells me who is needing
which topics most? Different audiences have different needs.

> The sub folder order is better.
I don't understand this sentence.

> I will create another Issue for other

Please be more specific. Improving the online help
is something we all strive for in our everyday business.
You don't need to file "improve this and that" issues.

#2 is a real issue. Feel free to file an RFE.
#3 is too vague. What is meant by "complaining about"?
What needs to be improved?
