German users usually use a "," for separation of numbers. When I tried to enter 
a font size to the menu of 8.5 I entered 8,5;

the result was flickering and finally a font size of 85.

So this usual behaviour shall be catched by the edit field.

i could not reproduce this, if i enter 8,5 i get a fontsize of 8,5.

did it in the functionbar and over contextmenu -> character -> size

tested with OOo1.1RC3
