Description simonbr 2003-09-06 13:06:03 UTC
In the Autotext dialog, when you select an autotext, open the Autotext button
and change the name of the autotext, the contents of the autotext will have
disappeared (the autotext with the new name will be empty).

Hi Jack,

1) I did not set the status; NEW is simply the initial status of a
new issue.
2) I don't agree with P4. If you just want to change the name of an
autotext, the autotext contents will be lost, and there does not seem
to be a simple way to get them back. Unless you can suggest a
workaround, this bug fulfills the criterium for P3 status.

hello simon,
i can reproduce this bug under one circumstance
if i rename the autotext and do NOT set the same keyshortcut in the
rename dialog, the autotext disappears. if i do set the old
keyshortcut the autotext remains.

i find this is only a P4 because with setting the old shortcut it has
a simple workaround. sorry for that late answer.

Hi Jack,

IMO the meaning of "workaround" is an alternative method to do
something, that you can try after you have found that the obvious
method does not work, and which then achieves the desired function.

However in this case, by renaming an Autotext, it disappears *before*
you have a chance to find out that you could have prevented this (by
using the same shortcut); once this has happened, the only obvious
way I can think of to get it back, would be to completely reinstall
the whole OOo suite!

So IMO this is clearly
"single function doesn't work the way it is supposed to be, but none
of the P2 criteria apply" (P3)
rather than
"bugs that are easy to workaround" (P4)
(unless I have overlooked an obvious method to get the autotext back
afterwards).

See http://www.openoffice.org/issues/bug_status.html#priority

By the way, this is a regression from 1.0.3.

I've had serveral severe crashes with renaming Autotext in the past.
However, checking this one with 2.3, it looks as if all works fine now.
Which is great news.
Simon, can you confirm?
