Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 19106
Setup-guide does not describe install wrapper
Last modified: 2006-04-04 20:53:15 UTC
Hi, Setup-Guides (http://documentation.openoffice.org/setup_guide/index.html) describe setup.exe/setup but do not at all describe install wrapper scipt which is very useful in server environments. Especially now when it is possible to run it without X server. Please describe install script with its parameters too.
at least an answer?
Okay this should be in the Linux documentation also. I am basing these observations off of Open Office 1.1.0. The install script by default detects which version of glibc you are using. From there if no command line flags are present it simply runs: ./setup -v -nogui -r:${tmpfile} The tmpfile variable specifies the type of install, and where to install it. By default this is /usr/local/OpenOffice.org1.1.0/ This information should also be included in the linux install documentation. The current issue for that is 21306.
Set target to 1.1.1.
Pavel, as I'm tracking the 1.1.1 issues I'm wondering who's going to fix this. Do you know that? I prefer personal assignments to "issues@documentation" ownership.
Sorry, but I do not know who is in charge with Setup_guide.
Assigning this to Frank Peters. He is in charge of the Setup Guides. Frank, If this should go to someone else, please, let me know. Have fun...
FPE: This is an OOo specific script. I'm not aware of that. I'm afraid Sun will not be describing this, so you will have to find someone else for this. I reset the target to 1.1.2 since I assume that it will not make it to 1.1.1.
install wrapper is going away, so we wont fix this.
