Which "diacritical signs" are you talking about and which font do you
use?
Comment 4 richlv 2003-09-10 10:08:05 UTC
1. this hapens with latvian diacritic symbols;
2. in oo.org it doesn't matter if the font is bitstream vera serif
(default), times or verdana; all of these contain required characters,
because it is possible to write them in any oo.org application by
hand; klipper also shows the correct symbols
3. additional testing information :

kwrite -> kword - ok
kword -> kwrite - ok
oo.org -> kwrite - ok
oo.org -> kword - ok
oo.org -> opera - ok
mozilla address bar -> kwrite, kword - ok

opera -> oo.org - wrong
kwrite, kword -> oo.org - wrong
mozilla address bar -> oo.org - wrong

now if copying from mozilla itself it is possible to choose with paste
special from html text and unformatted text. if pasting as unformatted
text, all diacritic symbols as usual are replaced by question marks.
if pasting as html, it gets pasted ok. so far this is the only case i
have found where it is possible to copy diacritic symbols from some
other application to oo.org.

and when copying from another oo.org application/instance and choosing
unformatted text they also are pasted correctly.

ps. i would like to know if it is ok for me to reopen issue if i know
that it doesn't work for me with the latest version (rc4) ? :)
i just want to make sure that 1.1 final eliminates all the
showstoppers for oo.org on linux for latvian users, so i'll do that
this time.

1. Please provide an URL showing those characters.
2. Which version of mozilla, Opera do aou have?
3. Do you start OOo in latvian locale?
4. What does happen when using the X-clipboard?
Comment 6 richlv 2003-09-22 08:56:46 UTC
1. www.tvnet.lv, www.delfi.lv, www.apollo.lv
2. mozilla - 1.4, opera - problem is
with all 7.20 betas
3. if you mean internal oo.org setting, then yes. i haven't
changed any other settings (like system locales etc)
4. how does one use x-clipboard
? =)
Comment 7 eric.savary 2003-10-14 17:24:23 UTC
I still can't reproduce this. Diacritical signs show perfectly in OOo RC5.

4) X-clipboard is when you select some text in one app. and paste it
in an other using the middle mouse button.

For now I close this as "works for me".
Reopen if you can have a confirmation from the community
