Description richlv 2003-09-02 12:33:59 UTC
sometimes when fiddling around with formatting of paragraphs/characters/pages
some characters overlap. usually it happens just with a few chars, but in
attached example this is the worst behaviour i've seen so far :)

this document opens fine though on win2k/oo.org 1.0.3

I also experience overlapping characters with some headings in the OS X golden
master version. However, it's only on screen; they print fine.
Comment 3 jack.warchold 2003-09-09 15:34:19 UTC
the file looks fine in OOo1.1
could not reproduce this on OOo1.1RC4

maybe this is a repaint problem. just press shift-ctrl-r to repaint
the office window

set to WFM

reassigned to jw

.
Comment 5 richlv 2003-09-09 16:28:18 UTC
ctrl+shift+r doesn't help

also this problem shouldn't stay after saving and reopening the
document, right ?

if 645m18 build 8687 is rc4, then this problem still is here.
i'll attach a screenshot.

i can provide additional information about software/configuration if
needed

bugdoc with changed font
Comment 8 jack.warchold 2003-09-10 11:28:27 UTC
sorry but i can not reproduce this here. i tested it on linux, winxp
and solaris. i played arround with it for 30 minutes, changes page
size, fonts, chracter attributes, paragraph settings and made
undo/redo. the document still looks good.
if i open your bugdoc it looks good on all OS'es

i just saved your file on my system, i only changed the fontsize,
please tell me if it still looks that nasty on your system.

i will set this issue to WFM but will not close this
Comment 9 richlv 2003-09-10 12:09:08 UTC
actually changing font helps me, too - but the thing is i've seen this problem at least
twice in different documents.

i'll try a clean install of rc4 and test that
document again
Comment 10 richlv 2003-09-12 13:53:37 UTC
removed oo.org, made a clean install.
the file still is displayed as in attached screenshot

maybe there are some other testcases, debugging options available to
check what's wrong ?
maybe some additional information about software versions (libraries,
support binaries) is needed ?
Comment 11 jack.warchold 2003-09-16 08:12:17 UTC
please tell me the modell of your vga-adapter, the driver maybe your
kde/gnome version. could you confirm this on another pc?

this ist strange...
Comment 12 utomo99 2003-09-16 10:01:55 UTC
I Can Not Reproduce the problem in OOo 1.1 Rc4, Win Xp Pro.

GF4 MX 460 32 MB, on 17 samsung monitor 1024x768

please include the graphic card data, and your resolution setting. and
try t update your VGA driver first
Comment 13 richlv 2003-09-16 10:05:08 UTC
xfree86 4.3.0 recognizes it as ati rage 128 pro ultra tf (and that's true, at least the
part until tf definately :) )
kde 3.1.3

kernel 2.4.22 with it's drm for ati rage
128
agp support for i845 board.

so, it finished compiling, i'll upgrade to
2.4.23-pre4... nope, didn't help (there were some dri fixes for xfree
4.3.0)

unfortunately i don't have another linux workstation here, maybe i will
be able to try it on another computer later.
Comment 14 richlv 2003-09-16 10:26:57 UTC
oook. i disabled "use printer metrics" and the document looks fine.
re-enabling
them even doesn't mess it up again.
so the problem probably is with printer metrics
feature
Comment 15 jack.warchold 2003-09-16 10:49:36 UTC
hmmm must be system specific, because even with this feature enabled,
the document looks fine here.

i will close this, because this could not be reproduced on other
systems.

ok found another bug just depending on the use printer metrics....
options.
i set this here, even if the occuring error is different, as duplicate
if the other issue, because i think we got a problem with use printer
metrics feature
