Description grsingleton 2003-08-30 18:30:26 UTC
The readmes that accompany the various distributions do NOT tell users that -net
is required to ensure multi-user access. This particularly significant with the
Windows distribution. I will attach two patches to apply against the existing
files for the developer to use to update the files.

I expect that the developer can extract the pertinent information from
either of these patches and apply them to the other distributions,
such as Solaris or Mac
Comment 4 grsingleton 2003-08-30 23:27:56 UTC
I just realized that release is VERY near so I have up'ed the priority
to reflect this.
Comment 5 Olaf Felka 2003-08-31 12:11:01 UTC
Why not having a look at the setup guide? Why is this a P1?
Sander,
what do you think
of additional information for the readme files?
Comment 6 grsingleton 2003-08-31 15:19:17 UTC
It's a P1 because this is important! If you don't want to apply the
patches et cetera, please close the issue. Or do we have to argue
about the benefits and still not get it done? I applaud that the Setup
guide is to be included. Please adjust the patches accordingly.
Comment 7 Martin Hollmichel 2003-09-01 13:00:32 UTC
please see
http://www.openoffice.org/project/www/issues/bug_status.html#priority
for setting priorities. of course this is an important issue.
Comment 8 grsingleton 2003-09-01 14:12:51 UTC
I read it. The last line under P1 says, "These issues have to be
handled immediately and must be fixed before release."

You have chosen P3 yet the page says:

Priority 2	This priority describes major bugs.

Examples:
# Crashes in basic functionality
# Freezes in basic functionality
# Data loss
# Functional area gets lost (i.e. printing)
# Basic functionality is not working correctly

Issues with this priority must be fixed before release.
I think this issue qualifies for the fifth.

Do you need more patches? After all we would like to get this
corrected as soon as possible, no?
Comment 9 Martin Hollmichel 2003-09-01 15:50:16 UTC
I do not argue: this is a must before next release, so it has to be P1
or P2 but the other way round:

this applies to "non-intuitive way to achieve "standard" issues",
which would leave to P4 => must not fixed in next release :(.

If it would be a simple fix for an ascii readme, I would take your
patch immidiatly, but unfortunatly the readme.txt and readme.html are
generated by readlicense/docs/readme/readme.xrm which is based on an
internal structure which is not that simple to extend (in a very short
time frame). also it would require another localiazation cycle for
also translated languages.
this is the reason why I don't accept this for 1.1.0 release any more
(and it was as well not in 1.0.x readme), but I think we can do it for
1.1.1.
Comment 10 grsingleton 2003-09-01 15:56:04 UTC
Good explanation. I can accept this and will leave the issue in your
hands.
Comment 11 pavel 2004-04-23 12:14:23 UTC
I think we have setup guide so no need to put such info duplicated also in
README files.
Comment 12 pavel 2004-04-30 19:50:51 UTC
No comments for a week, thus WONTFIX.

Feel free to reopen if you think it is absolute must to mention -net in the
README files.
