Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 18837
Please merge GSI file for Dutch localization
Last modified: 2013-08-07 15:00:39 UTC
Please merge the attached GSI file, containing updated translations for the Dutch localization of OOo 1.1 into the official sources. This GSI file was used to prepare the Dutch localized version of OpenOffice.org 1.1 RC2 for Windows. As the responsibility for the localization is listed as "Sun internal", and the translations also affect the GUI of Star Office, please contact mr. Chris Verschuur of Sun Microsystems in the Netherlands, for approval. Attached to this issue are the GSI file (zipped) and a .SXW file outlining the improvements of the translation.

Hi Nils, when could the merge happen? Greetings, Stefan
Created attachment 9116 [details] zip archive of gsi file
Hi, Please merge the latest GSI file (nl-NL-08-9-2003.gsi) I attached instead. It corrects some more translation errors, found after the release of Dutch 1.1 RC2. To merge the translation, I put this file in the {SRC_ROOT}/transex3 directory and issue the following command: [ooo_11rc2_src/transex3]$ guw.pl -env localize -m -i nl-NL -l 31 -f nl-NL-08-9-2003.gsi Note: this is under Windows/tcsh. Under Linux/Unix you will have to remove the "guw.pl -env" part: [ooo_11rc2_src/transex3]$ localize -m -i nl-NL -l 31 -f nl-NL-08-9- 2003.gsi
DL->NF: Would you please takeover?
Nils, please hold this issue for a moment. I discovered that in 1.1 RC5 there is a small number of strings that were English in 1.1 RC2, but now have correct translation into Dutch. Applying the full GSI file will change them back to English. I will soon attach an updated and "pruned" GSI file to this issue. It will only contain the translations that I changed, so applying it to a later version of the sources will not affect other strings that may have changed in the meantime.
Created attachment 10018 [details] zipped file with pruned GSI file (for Dutch OOo 1.1.0)
Added a zipped file containing a pruned GSI file. It only contains the strings that were actually changed respective to the CVS version of 1.1 RC5. This GSI file must be merged with the OOo 1.1.0 sources in order to build the Dutch localized version of OOo 1.1.0. Instructions: Put this file in the {SRC_ROOT}/transex3 directory and issue the following command: [ooo_11rc2_src/transex3]$ localize -m -i nl-NL -l 31 -f pruned-4-10- 2003.gsi (note: under Windows with cygwin/tcsh, add "guw.pl -env" in front of this command) After merging the strings, rebuild the software by running dmake in {SRC_ROOT}. Created attachment 10019 [details] OOo Calc file giving an overview of the changes (.sxc)
I also added a spreadsheet file that gives an overview of the changes I made. The small tool I wrote to prune the GSI file, and generate a csv file for this overview, is called comparegsi. It can be downloaded at: http://nl.openoffice.org/servlets/ProjectDownloadList Please consult with SUN NL in order to merge these translations into the source as soon as possible, so that they may improve the Dutch version of StarOffice as well. If any more information or assistance is needed, please let me know.
Created attachment 10020 [details] document about the changes to mnemonics (.sxw)
I added just one more document which explains about the changes I made to some mnemonics in the menus. Some cases where the mnemonics in menus of the Dutch version were not unique are fixed with the new GSI file.
Ivo, as we are now on the way to 1.1.1, please reflect the relevant gsi file to the database and merge the strings into a cooresponding 1.1.1 CWS. Release Enginering (Rüdiger) will be able to point you to the location of such CWS within Hamburg. Simon, as Ivo always deals with merges and gsi files and is also the current owner of the tools within Sun, I would siggest to file thos issue to him in future. This will also speed up things a bit :-)
Simon, I got many gsi format violations while importing the gsi files into our database maybe caused by having wrong amount of tabs. To prevent loosing strings please provide me with a fresh extract from your source , e.g. localize -e -l 31 -f nl-NL.gsi
Hi Ivo, Sorry for delaying to follow up, I had a crazy week. Anyway, I am surprised to hear of this problem. Did you use the pruned GSI file from pruned-4-10-2003.zip? I have used it for the Dutch localized Windows build of OOo 1.1.0 without problems, and so have the builders of the Dutch Linux and Solaris builds, they downloaded it from this issue, and they did not report any problems. Is it possible that something has changed in the sources since 1.1.0 that causes these errors?
Hi Simon, it seems that there are some line without the right amount of tabs. The localize tool do not care about the extract datum so you can't see any error message. I merge your GSI files into the sources and re-extract it again so I have as proper GSI file now. This should be avoided in the future because it's a potentially cause errors ( losing translated strings ). There is no more action needed to be done from your side.
Hi Ivo, That probably happened because I edit the strings directly in the GSI file; I can imagine how I inadvertently deleted a tab here and there. I think I'll write a small program to check this before submitting a GSI file next time. Thanks!
The strings have been merged into ooo111fix1
