Description Rainer Bielefeld 2003-08-29 16:14:07 UTC
I just created an internal problem report for my CAD-projects and found out,
that a horizontal sort possibility would be helpful.

Please look at the attached example "horizontalSort"

In columns A/B you find project number and project text, which are already
sorted with the standard sort option.

In C2:I2 you find a list with problems I had in the projects, and an "X" shows,
in which problem in which project appeared.

The work on such a "database" never will by systematic:

First I work on project 100 and find problem Z
Next I work on project 45 and find problem Q
Next I work on project 10 and find problem Y
Next I work on project 1 and find problem X
.
and so on
.
.
.

After some Time I will like to bring some order into the table.
No Problem for the projects, I can sort the lines without Problems.
But If I want to get an alphabetic order to the problems (start with "Border not
visible", end with "ZZZZ", I must sort all columns manually.

A "Horizontal Sort" (working in all details as the normal "vertical sort") would
be a great tool for me.

I think this is not so very important for the "atabase use", But CALC also is a
powerful tool to create amazing tables for presentations, documentations and
similar, and for these needs I see much sense for this enhancement.

Any votes from other users who see this similar?

Open the Sort dialog, second tabpage "Options", there "left to right"
(below). Remember to switch "Contains headers" on/off by your needs,
and to specify the sorting row in the first tabpage.
