Description hwoarang 2003-08-27 13:59:56 UTC
When a file is already open by a user and other user open it, a notification
should be send to second user warning him that file is already open and asking
what to do: "Open in read only" or "To be notified when the file is closed"...

So, "To be notified..." is choose, when the file is closed by first user the
second will be notified and the file is updated with the changes made by the
first user and the second can start use the file in read write mode...

Got it? (sorry my bad english)

Well, this is only a idea for a enhancement to Ooo, 'cause MSExcel do it and is
a usefull tool for many users...

Thanx !

As the competitor has integrated collaboration functionality, it makes
much sense there. Collaboration is not a defined keyfeature for OO.o
2.0 and far away from implementation. Perhaps it could be considered
then (in Office later).

Could a developer check whether this belongs in component framework rather than
spreadsheet?

Yes i would find it very useful if I was notified that a file was already in
use and asked if I wanted to open in Read-only mode, be notified of file
avialblitity, or just not to open the fiel at all. I am upgrading today to OO.o
3.0 RC1. I am hoping maybe this was addressed.

Nope Version 3.0 RC1 made the problem worse. now it tries to open the document
reguardless if the file is in use. At least before it said in the Title bar
(Read-Only)

To grep the issues easier via "requirements" I put the issues currently lying on
my owner to the owner "requirements".
