When using a few underscores to make a solid line, a horizontal line fills the 
line from margin to margin when the return key is pressed. This line cannot be 
deleted.

Hi memyselfi,

thanks for using and supporting OpenOffice...

This Line appears because there's a feature in the autocorrect 
function (apply border):

using              result:
---                0.5pt single underline
___                1.0pt single underline
===                1.1pt double underline
***                4.5pt double underline
~~~                6.0pt double underline
###                9.0pt double underline


You can get rid of the line by 
a)   pressing [ctrl][z] (undo) immediately after the line appears
b)   select all ==> Format -> Default
