1) Open a new spreadsheet and insert in graphic from a file using menu items:
   Insert/Graphics/From File
2) Save and close the spreadsheet.

3) Re-open the spreadsheet and attempt either to print it, or Export it to pdf
using the menu items:
    File/Print

OR
    File/Export As PDF

Click through default values and a pop-up give the message
  "An Unrecoverable Error Has Occured"

It turns out that version 1.1 RC3 does work on linux. I was using a
stale link to version 1.1 RC2
