Description memyselfi 2003-08-21 19:41:35 UTC
When opening files, a backslashed was needed to be entered before the
applications would open any file.

     e.g. z:\openthisfile.abc

If no backslash was entered, no files were opened.

By default, if no backslash were entered, the default directory on the
specified drive should be used.

 e.g. current directory is z:\listofdocs

so, entering z:openthisfile.abc should load the file from
z:\listofdocs\openthisfile.abc

I'm using Windoze 98SE.

The usefulness to open files without having to type the '\' +
directory location is evident when

1) a person is working with different files at the same time,
2) files are located deep in subdirectories
3) and the directory one needs to load the file from is already set a
current/default.

e.g. I'm working with

1) f:\this is\where\the file\is located\document1.sxw

and with

2) g:\second location\of the file\in
another\subdirectory\document2.sxw

so, instead of having to navigate the root each and everyone time
he/she needs to access files in the 'other' subdirectory, one can
just type x:file wanted
