Description jhcaiced 2003-08-20 14:48:18 UTC
When trying to install OOo 1.1 RC3 under Redhat-9, the install
procedure cannot be finished.

It goes well until the screen:

Java Setup
  - Install new Java Runtime Enviroment (disabled-gray)
  - Do not use Java with OpenOffice.org 1.1.0
  - Use an installed Java Runtime Enviroment

The default option selected is "Use an installed Java..." and the
Ok button is disabled.

Since this is a default Redhat-9 install, there is no Java installed,
so, when I select "Do not use Java with ...." I got a small dialog
which says "Some functionality within OpenOffice.org 1.1.0...."

The error is that when the small dialog appears, the focus on the
radio buttons switch to "Install new Java Runtime Enviroment".

It doesn't appear to be a way to go after this dialog, I can't complete
the installation under Linux without Java.

(This procedure works fine under Windows, I can install 1.1RC3 without
 Java)

This is the desired behaviour. OOo java setup should start with '- Use
an installed Java Runtime Enviroment' because the user might have java
on his machine. Her might have it installed at an unusual location so
that java setup will not detect it. If you don't have java on your
machine or you won't use it you have to choose '- Do not use Java with
OpenOffice.org 1.1.0'. After the messagebox is closed by >OK< on my
machine the radio button stays at 'Do no use...'. On suse 8.2 as on RH9.
Comment 2 Olaf Felka 2003-08-21 11:34:49 UTC
I can't reproduce.
Comment 3 jhcaiced 2003-08-21 13:47:35 UTC
I run new tests and noticed that the problem doesn't come
from OpenOffice, but from the Window Manager used.

In my previous tests I was using RedHat-9 + fvwm2 (2.4.15) and this
morning tried with fvwm2 (2.4.16, latest stable version), with
both versions I can reproduce the error every time.

However, the Install procedure works fine using Redhat-9/GNOME,
RedHat-9/KDE, RedHat-9/TWM, RedHat-7.3/GNOME-Sawfish

(May be the summary of this issue should be rewrote ?)
