Description bigserpent 2003-08-20 13:52:28 UTC
I've inserted array formula in cell by drag'n'drop (I think so) and the cell
became read-only. It's impossible to edit or clear it - the error occurs and
nothing happens.

Try to edit Z7 cell
Comment 2 frank 2003-08-20 17:02:58 UTC
Hi Alexander,

this is not a bug.

If you have created an array formula, you can't delete just one cell
but only the whole array itself.

So just select the whole array, in your case I think it's y7:z7 and
press del. The array formula is gone.

Normally this is a support question and therefore is answered on the
users@ mailing list.

Best regards

Frank

Sorry, but I disagree.

Even if it was "as designed", it cannot be found elsewhere - to delete
2 cells in order only to clear one cell. So if 2 or more cells have
the same array function they must be deleted at once only? It sounds
no sence for me, sorry. And moreover, it isn't clear for a user or
documented.

Hi,

this is an extract of the help system on Editing Array formulas :

Editing Array Formulas
1.Select the cell range or array containing the array formula. To
select the whole array, position the cell cursor inside the array
range, then press Ctrl+/, where / is the Division key on the numeric
keypad.
2.Either press F2 or position the cursor in the input line. Both of
these actions let you edit the formula.
3.After you have made changes, press Ctrl+Shift+Enter.

-----

For your second example, an array formula for just one cell, just edit
it by using F2, a double click on the cell or the icon for the
function autopilot.

As I said before, this is a support question and not a bug !

So I close it again as invalid !
