Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 18406
Pasting text copied from another application doesn't work without hack
Last modified: 2003-11-01 03:22:29 UTC
Hi. This bug has been present for a while, but right now I'm seeing it on RC3. Sometimes cutting from one application to OOo writer works fine. But sometimes it fails; I'll copy text from, say, the Mozilla Firebird browser, and when I try to paste it in OOo writer it won't appear. Further, the Paste button will be grayed out, indicating that the clipboard is empty. I'd guess that this is possible a Mozilla issue, however there is an OOo-side hack. If I copy text in OOO writer the Paste button will appear in color, indicating that the clipboard has contents. This "fixes" the problem, because I can then go into the other app, copy text, and paste it as if nothing were wrong. So basically the clipboard functionality has to be reset by a copy operation in OOo writer, and it will then work for other apps.
Unable to reproduce RH9/KDE/1.1rc3 See Issue 483 See Issue 11096
I can't reproduce this (Solaris 2.8). Please try to describe, as carefuly as possible, the steps required to reproduce this bug. How are you copying text? Are you just highlighting the text on Mozilla Firebird or do you right-click and select "copy"? How are you pasting the text? Do you go to Edit > Copy always, or do you press the middle-mouse button. These two methods of copying text are not the same. If you simply highlight text on MozFirebird then you paste it using the middle-mouse button. Try to test this with other apps as well. You might want to try: - From MozFirebird to KOffice. - From MozFirebird to a terminal. - From KOffice to OpenOffice. - From a terminal to OpenOffice. Let's try to figure out if this is: a) A Mozilla bug. b) A OpenOffice bug. c) A dual Moz-OOo bug.
For copying and pasting, in both apps I either use the Edit menu or I use Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V. I never simply hightlight or use the middle buttons. It's hard to say how to reproduce this bug, but I have noticed it in previous versions of OOo. I'll try to see if I can nail down where it is coming from, but right now it seems pretty random.
I'm going to mark this as a duplicate of Issue 11096. I could not reproduce with Mozilla 1.5b, but can reproduce with Firebird. *** This issue has been marked as a duplicate of 11096 ***
