Description nader 2003-08-19 11:01:45 UTC
I don't know if this is the right place to put the issue. But it looks like
it's the most appropriate.

When I change MyDocuments location in Windows, the OpenOffice starter tries to
open the old MyDocuments location - and can't find it.
It seems like OpenOffice tries to locate the directory that was registerd
during install time; and can't find it.

Suggestion: MyDocuments location should be located from the registry.

Hi Thorsten,
please have a look. Can we handle such a case?

JA: AFAIK the only way to change the location is to change it in
/tools/options/OpenOffice.org/paths. AFAIK the setup program reads the registry
entry for the MyDocuments path and then takes it as a configuration parameter.

It's good to know where I can change the path of MyDocuments whenever this
happens again. But I think that it would be difficult for a non-expert user to
do this. Why not to make OO act whenever it actually doesn't find the directory
that it was configured to? Something like re-reading from the Registry and
putting the right string again in the .../paths files.
It is true that it doesn't happen a lot. But things like this strengthen the
product.

Thanks for your effort guys. You are making a wonderful job!
