Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 18279
Autocorrect of "I, some text, <return>"
Last modified: 2013-08-07 14:41:36 UTC
Hi I've noticed an annoying AutoCorrect behaviour that needs fixing. It is an incorrect automatic conversion of a block of text to a numbered list (capital roman). To reproduce, try typing, in Writer: I, bob smith, really dislike quirky autocorrect<return> When you hit return/enter after the word 'autocorrect', OO.o will convert your sentance into the first point in a list with captial roman numbering. Expected behaviour: no autocorrect functions activated. Actual behaviour: sentance incorrectly converted to bullet list. This makes sense for: I: Blah Blah Blah or I. Blah Blah Blah but not, to my mind, I, Blah Blah Blah I can reproduce this in OOorc{1,2,3}, OO.o 1.0.3, and all others I've tried.
Yes, YES Y E S !!! This is an example of something I should have reported long ago but left alone because it was sometimes a problem in Word and a Ctrl-Z would fix it (sometimes). I agree that it is quite irritating. I use linux as well.
HI->OS: I've asked FT for this, he see it as a bug.
.
I discussed it with FT and we decided to change the following: Up to now the following characters were allowed inside of a numbering: . , < > ( ) That resulted in the error reported in this issue and also in accepting the following combinations as numberings: 1( 1< 1> (1) <2> <2) and some other strange combinations. It has been changed to only accepting .() Additionally the number of opening parentheses mustn't be higher than the closing ones. That results in accepting combinations like: (1) 1) 1.) (1.) We are certainly still able to accept more numbering levels like: 1.2.4 1.3.3.)
cws os18 can be found on so-cwsserv02, wntmsci8 and unxlngi5.pro
Checked the numbering autoformat changes in internal CWs os18.
Verified. Changes will take place in OO 2.0.
