Description mmelchior 2003-08-08 10:30:33 UTC
Please make it possible to attach a frame to a character in a document
and position that frame absolutely on the page where that character appears.
Something like a footnote, without the ususal indications of a footnote.

My use for this is to have a logo and some text at the bottom on the very last
page of my document, such that I do not need to move it when the document expands.

My experiments with a callout with invisible border, and a pagestyle with special
footer, all failed. I think a frame with its anchor on a character and an
absolute position on that page is the most general and useful solution.

jw: reassigned to jw
Comment 2 jack.warchold 2003-09-04 13:07:37 UTC
jw: changed prio to P3
set to WFM

if you call the contextmenu of the frame, you can set "anchor -> to
character", this should be the function you are looking for.
Comment 3 mmelchior 2003-09-04 20:31:31 UTC
Reopend.
The suggested function only works for the horizontal position.
And I am most interrested in the absolute Vertical position, some 2 cm
from the bottom of the page, when the character it is anchored to
moves vertivally. The Vertical position can only be measured from 3
positions
 - Margin
 - Paragraph text area
 - Character
A reference to page or text area is missing here. It would be good to
have the same selection as for the Horizontal position.

Sometimes it works a bit. Having the vertical positioning set to:
Vertical From bottom by 2.00cm to Character
Then it stays there wnen inserting text that wraps or changing point
size of a block of text and causes the anchor to move verically. But
when inseting or deleting paragraphs [just pressing Enter or
Backspace] then the frame moves up or down!

Ahh, it looks like the frame sometimes locks on to its vertical
anchor position, when the anchor comes very close to the frame.
Then it starts moving vertically with the anchor character!

Also, it does not seem possible to position the frame in the bottom
margin, between the lower text border and the edge of the paper....

Please correct this strange behaviour.
I am working with the Linux 1.1RC3 version.

jw: setting keyword "ms_interoperability"
jw: reassingned to od
jw -> Matthijs setting absolut horizontal positions for characters or
objects like you described it will be possible in OOo2.0
Comment 5 Oliver-Rainer Wittmann 2003-09-09 09:44:41 UTC
OD (09.09.2003): accepted.
Yes, we will extend the positioning and alignment of to character
anchored objects in the next version (OOo 2.0).

Comment 7 Oliver-Rainer Wittmann 2003-10-01 08:57:02 UTC
OD (01.10.2003):
Extending position alignments of 'to paragraph' and 'to character'
anchored frame/graphics by page areas, namely 'entire page' and 'page
text area' in local cws swobjpos02 - not yet checked-in in cvs, but
coming soon.
Comment 8 Oliver-Rainer Wittmann 2003-11-20 10:29:57 UTC
enhancement provided by internal cws swobjpos02.

With the new vertical alignments 'Entire page' and 'page text area'
together with the new option 'Follow text flow' it is now possible to
anchor a Writer fly frame to paragraph or to character and position it
relative to page areas. This works for Writer fly frames containing
normal content (text, tables, etc.), graphics or OLE objects.
E.g.: To position a graphic at the bottom of the page, you can anchor
it to a paragraph on the page, switch off option 'Follow text flow'
and chose as vertical position 'Bottom to entire page'.
Comment 9 Oliver-Rainer Wittmann 2003-11-20 10:30:46 UTC
OD->MRU:
Checked in internal installation set of cws swobjpos02 - please verify.
Comment 10 michael.ruess 2003-12-11 11:13:35 UTC
Checked this with CWS swobjpos2.
Comment 11 michael.ruess 2003-12-11 11:14:45 UTC
Verified. This will be implemented in OO 2.0.
Comment 12 michael.ruess 2004-04-27 13:27:09 UTC
Closed, fixed in current OO 2.0 snapshot 680m34.
