Description acli 2003-08-08 06:55:32 UTC
Installation of OpenOffice 1.1RC2 ("network" installation) went successfully.
However, when any OpenOffice app (other than spadmin, it seems) is run, I get
only a lot of

file_image_pagein: Function not implemented

messages, then the installer will appear. This happens no matter how many times
the installer is run.

In the case of spadmin, the error messages also appear, but the printer admin
utility runs fine despite the errors.

The program seem to be intermittent. Adding the OpenOffice program directory to
the PATH sometimes solves the problem (i.e., error messages appear but the app
gets run), but sometimes not.

Yes, the network installation was performed as root into
a new folder. A workstation installation was performed
(automatically) as a normal user afterwards.

I have installed it into the /software directory.

Contents of root's setup.log has been attached.

I have found that the user account that I normally use produce this
problem. However, if I use other accounts that I use for testing, the
problem does not occur.

The user account that's giving problems does not have error lines in
the setup.log.

Differences in the environment have been ruled out.
Comment 4 acli 2003-08-08 18:46:32 UTC
I have found the cause of the problem.

I had previously installed Open Office 1.0.3. However, I could not get
it to work (except as root). In the process, I left a .sversionrc file
that I set intentionally to be unwritable by the user.

After I have rm ~/.sversionrc (as that user), the problem went away.

So it is an old .sversionrc that is confusing the new 1.1 startup
scripts, and the installer's failure to remove that file.

The setup doesn't detect errors while writing *.ini / *.rc files.
Fixing this would reqire a bigger change which will be unnecessary
because this setup is EOL'd and the next setup wouldn't use this code
anyway.

Set target.
