Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 17918
Problems exporting to MS Excel.
Last modified: 2013-08-07 15:15:02 UTC
I've saved an SXC file to an XLS file. When I try to open it with the "Microsoft Excel Viewer Version 8.0" (I've not the full Excel) it loops indefinitely (the viewer uses 100% CPU and don't solve some cells). I don't know if this bug works also with the full MS-Excel. The attachment contains the source SXC and the converted XLS files.

Yes, It appears that this version of Excel Viewer uses 99% of CPU load time regardless of the Document that it opens. I have tried it with simple Excel created docs and found the exact same behaviour. So this appears unrelated to the Calc export. But I do notice that the Column 'Ore' is not calculated and set to zero. I will investigate that.

Calc is only writing the results of Formula if they are formatted as numbers, text or logical categories. All other categories are set to zero. This doc is using categories of Time. Thus the remaining categories: time, date, currency, percent etc will set be set to zero. Calc and Excel will calculate the formula result at run-time but Excel Viewer will simply display the stored result. I will fix this.
