Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 17893
Tables created in OO open improperly in MS Word
Last modified: 2003-11-01 03:19:42 UTC
Create a Table with Borders in OO and enter some text in any of the cells, then save as MS Word doc file. When opened in MS Word 2000, cells will be incorrect height and paragraph formatting of text will have been changed (6pt added after paragraph.) Cell width will be OK. If table is created in OO without borders, cell height will be OK but paragraph formatting is still changed when document is opened in MS WORD 2000.
Please attach sample file. Thanks, Tam
Created attachment 8545 [details] Sample files that illustrate problem creating new tables
The ZIP file contains two files: one created in OpenOffice RC2, and the other created in MS WORD 2000 SP3. Note that the tables look a little different because the default properties for a new table are different in the two packages. THIS IS NOT THE BUG. If you use WORD to open the document created in OO, you will see that the table looks different in each package - this is the bug. If I then edit the table in WORD and save the document, then open the document in OO, the table looks fine. From that point on, there is no problem. If you use OO to open the document created in WORD, they look the same (which is the way it should be.) This indicates to me that OO is probably reading the table OK, but it misses something when creating a new table.
