Description osavill 2003-08-02 16:23:58 UTC
I don't know quite where to begin with this one ! These are what I have noticed
so far !
- Applying any effect results in the image going completely white.
  - Close OOo down, restart and reload the image and the effect has been applied.

- After applying an effect the 3D Effects dialog becomes useless until OOo is
restarted.

- If a 3D effect is applied to an existing image the image is completely
overwritten by a solid coloured object.

- Reloading a save .sxd file then bring up the 3D Controller dialog. The
Illumination `sphere' is now outside the dialog altogether !!! and is completely
in unresponsive.

- What ever you do DON'T move the 3D Controller dialog over the main OOo screen
or a complete system crash may result !!!

I shall attach some screen shots and fire up Star Office 5.2 !!

Unfortunately I cannot grab screenshots since OOo appears to throw the
GIMP into `cat do that' mode - any suggestions ? Is this deliberate ?

What version of Linux? What graphics card? What graphics driver?
Comment 8 osavill 2003-08-04 10:13:11 UTC
Mandrake 9.1,
ATI Rage Mobility Pro,
Stock XFree86-4.3-8mdk, so now 3D accelleration or any 3D stuff !

Please have alook what happens if you turn off OpenGL support: go to
tools/options/openoffice.org/view/3Dview and uncheck the use OpenGL
option. Anything better now? If it is than the problem is the fault of
a badly programmed open GL driver of the graphic card and not OOs
fault. Please have a look. Thanks in advance!
Comment 10 osavill 2003-08-04 15:05:11 UTC
Wow ! Spot on !! I've no idea who to turn to for this one ! Maybe
one of the XFree86 lists ? If you are 100% sure it is the Open GL
driver and not OOo's use of the driver API then please close the OR
as `INVALID'

Thanks, now - how do I apply lighting effects to a flat 2D image
????
Comment 11 wolframgarten 2003-08-04 15:39:21 UTC
Uh, lighting effects are only for 3D objects - but... convert the
image to 3D using context menu, give it a depth of 0,0 and you can use
lighting effects on it, but I do not think it will look good :-(
