Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 17731
printed glyphs from symbol font are missing or incorrect
Last modified: 2013-08-07 14:43:45 UTC
My document created with earlier OOo (1.0.2 or maybe 1.1b1) contains characters in the "Symbol" (TTF) font. Where it displayed and printed perfectly in previous versions (up to 1.1b), with 1.1rc2 it displays correctly, but prints incorrectly (rather than greek symbols, I get roman). This makes RC2 unusable for me. I will attach some screenshots and a sample document.
Sample source document and screenshots here: http://pcsb620.tju.edu/~jes/print_symbol_bug.sxw If this is not convenient, I can send an attachemnt.
Sorry, here's the top-level URL: http://pcsb620.tju.edu/~jes/OOo_bug_17731 .html
Just checked Calc: same behavior. Perhaps this should be moved to gsl component.
jw: reassigend to jw please check this in OOo1.1RC3
jw> please check this in OOo1.1RC3 Exact same results in RC3. Could this be a font replacement issue? I see there is no symbol font in the replacement list (via spadmin, not OOo:tools/options). (Ob FAQ) Is there any way to tell for sure what binary I'm running? Help/About does not distinguish different builds in the same branch.
jw: reproduced with OOo1.1RC3 printing this document with OOo1.0.3 looks fine with OOo1.1RC3 the print out looks like described OOo1.1rc3 on -> no problems reassigend to us
fix OOo1.1RC3 on XP -> no problems
The "Symbol" font issue is clearly fixed in OOo 1.1. But the bugdoc further contains a "Standard Symbol" which is an XFont (Display font) that can not be printed. The problem here is that the "Insert->Special Character" Dialog offers Fonts, that would never be offered in Writer, because they can not be printed. This is inconsistent.
Will log a follow-up to target above mentioned inconsistency.
The mentioned enhancement above is now issue 23716.
