Description abo 2003-07-31 15:51:11 UTC
I run Red Hat Linux 9 with the default GNOME/Metacity environment. I installed
OOo 1.1rc2 in /opt.

I open up two text documents and try switching focus between them with either
the mouse or using Alt-TAB, but whenever I change focus the "Paragraph Styles"
window shows up and steals the focus. I have to click with the mouse once more
or press Alt-TAB again to get focus to the right window.

I like the fact that "Paragraph Styles" and similar windows are real window
manager windows and that they're only visible when they're useful, but maybe OOo
could hint the window manager about not always giving them the keyboard focus?

Such a hint has just recently entered the EWMH spec and i know of no
window manager that supports it already; as soon as i get one
(probably metacity as it tends to be updated quickly to the EWMH spec)
i will add it.

Oh, I see. Maybe it would be better to just revert to the old
"internal" windows then, until X11 has a sane way of dealing with
these kinds of windows.

According to the OOo roadmap retargeting to 'OOo Later'.
Comment 7 cno 2007-04-30 10:58:26 UTC
With 2.2 on XP this works OK.
With 2.0.3 on Debian via NoMachine session, it is still not OK.
With 2.2 on XP the same problem occures with the object browser in the IDE.

Any other comments?
Can someone check with 2.2 on Linux?

Checked with 2.2 on Debian.
Still not OK there.
