Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 1769
Import of UTF-8 stress-file crashes OOo
Last modified: 2003-09-08 16:56:16 UTC
Hi, When you try to import the file UTF-8-text.txt, OOo initiates a saving-process and then crashes with the following error-message: Error saving the document Untitled1: Write Error Error in writing sub-document content.xml Steps to reproduce: ·select Insert|File from the Menu ·select the uploaded file UTF-8-test.txt and set the document Type to 'Text encoded' ·select Unicode (UTF-8) as the encoding and close the Dialog OOo is irritated by the non-standard (illegal) UTF-8 encodings. You can also get the file (and a UTF-8-demo.txt with standard UTF8 that is imported correctly) from this site: http://www.cl.cam.ac.uk/~mgk25/ ciao Christian
Created attachment 553 [details] UTF-8-test.txt (Stress file for testing UTF-8 decoding)
I forgot to mention: OOo 'refuses' to open the file (File|Open). It neither pops up a new window nor is there an error message. Nothing happens. The UTF-8-demo.txt I mentioned opens fine. ciao Christian
Reassigned to Eric.
ES->JP: the same in the 641i *LINUX*
Fixed in the version 641p
This bug is back. OO.o 642 (german) crashes with an unrecoverable error. After selecting the file as encoded text as described OO.o loads the file and displays the first page, but then crashes immediately. This is reproducible every time I try to open the file. PS: I did a network-install
JP->SBA: can you please test it under all other plattforms? Because in my Windows Version all works fine. And I thinks it's not an import problem, because the GPF happens by viewing the document - so this might be a formatting problem under LINUX. Thanks.
Eric, please check. Reassigned.
changed Version to 1.0.0 and removed build-# from summary
so, FIXED.
Sorry, just an error.
Eric probably forgot to reopen this issue after noticing his error. This one is still present in OO.o 1.0.1
ES->cloph: yes it still crashed in a 1.01 and also in a current 643. But on an internal 644g, everything looks good. I just reassign to you, this time. Please confirm and close as soon as a newer version is on OOo.
I confirm this issue as fixed in OOo 643C The attached file doesn't crash OOo anymore (but there are still some UTF-8 issues (about hanfling malformed sequences) left, but that'll be another issue)
Before I can set it to verified I had to resolve it fixed..
And finally.. closing.
