Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 17669
even with autocorrection disabled, scalc still converts single letters to lowercase
Last modified: 2003-09-08 16:55:29 UTC
In at least one instance of an Excel spreadsheet, where the allowed values for a particular column are supposed to be "Q", "M", "m", or "C" (as input to a macro that counts instances of each), it appears to be impossible to enter both "M" and "m", regardless of the autocorrection settings. With default autocorrection, all "m" turn into "M"; with all autocorrection disabled (or as much as seems possible), all "M" turn into "m". Typing "Major" or other uncounted strings works OK, and "Q" and "C" both work. However, "q" and "c" turn into "Q" and "C" automatically. Note that this behavior differs from Excel 97, which leaves "M" and "m" alone (others not tested there).
In this case the Auto Input changes your input. You could disable it via TOOLS-CELL CONTENTS-AUTO INPUT
