Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 17577
Font spacing and width varies between 1.02 and 1.1rc2
Last modified: 2003-09-08 16:54:41 UTC
Not sure this is specifically in the presentation module but that's where I noticed it and where the effect is most severe. I have some presentations prepared in Dec last year (1.01/1.02?). I have just installed 1.1rc2 on windows 98 and also on redhat 9 alongside the default version 1.02. In my presentations the width of a line of text differs between 1.02 and 1.1, the font is helvetica 32 point. The width is 'correct' in 1.02/linux and 1.1/windows98, it is too large in 1.1/linux. This breaks many of my slides making the frames too large. If I compare the same presentation in 1.02 and 1.1 then any given line is markedly wider in the later version, so far as I can tell all settings are the same. Ed
Reassigned to Christian.
Is there any additional information I can provide? This is kind of a show stopper for me in upgrading to 1.1 as I'd rather not reformat 50-odd presentations. Simple test: in redhat 9 produce a line in impress/1.02 at helvetica 32point which alomst fills the line. View it in 1.1 - much wider. view it in windows 98/1.1 - same as 1.02/linux

Created attachment 8388 [details] Presentation demonstrating two instances of format differences
I have created an attachment, a 2 page presentation made in OOo.102 under Redhat 9. On slide 1, para 1 is 9 lines long on slide 2 bullet 1 is a single line Under OO1.1RC2 on redhat 9 slide1/para1 is 10 ines long and slide2/bullet1 is 2 lines long. Under OOo1.1RC2 on windows 98 the prsentation is 'correct'
set to new and change the target
This is not a bug but a changed default. In OOo1.0.1 the formating of the text was dependung to the printer metrics. In the OOo1.1rc the document formating is independent from the printer metrics. To get the old behaviour switch on 'Use printer metrics for document formatin' in 'Tools/Options/Presentation/General/Compatibility'.
I close the issue. Please reopen the issue if the bug still occures.
