If the whole page is given a background color and the document is saved as Word 
97etc., the background color is seen by OOo, but not by Word (97 or XP). 
Inversely, a pagebound background colour saved from Word (97) is ignored by 
OOo.

Please Attach the documents which make this problem, so we can test it.  
(Without the documents, we cannot confirm the problem easily)
Don't forget to cut other part of the documents, so the file size is
small, but we still able to see the problem.

I can Reproduce the problem on 
OpenOffice 1.1 (default Install, US), Win XP Pro Sp1. 
(And MS Office XP Sp2). 
It is real problem

When opening the doc file in OOO the background color is not displayed. 

Case 2, when opening the sxw file, and save in MS word format, the
background color also lost. 

Change priority. I hope it is correct prio. because it is totally lost.

Hi,

I found this issue searching for quite another thing ;-)
and can confirm the problem for OOo 1.1.0 German version WIN98SE:
645m19(Build8693) and MS-WORD2000, with the attached .sxw and another
created by myself. 

It seems to be only a page-background problem, no problem with
paragraph background and character background.

By the way, I also found issue 19630 (might be related to this one) 

Seems already to be fixed for OOo 2.0, pls see issue 18247! Utomo, can
you please check this?

No further activities of my for this issue.

Beside that the page color of the OOO is not for the full page. it
only in the text area. 
In MS Word, we can get full page color (no White area at all)

Background color in Word is only supported in Web Layout of a
document. This isn't actually supported by OO import/export to WW
format, but has already been implemented for OO 2.0 now.

For 1.1.1 we want to put our focus on real bugfixes. Thus I gave it
here a 2.0 target.
