Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 17498
Enable WinWord Filter to handle WW6/7 (C)JK files
Last modified: 2013-08-07 14:43:45 UTC
Currently the WinWord filter cannot handle MS Word for Windows 6.0/95 Japanese or Korean. It does not understand the magic number and complains that the file is not a WinWord File. The patch will make the filter to understand the magic number and also enables the filter to handle local encoding in the file.

Very interesting indeed :-) Have you any good info for your test against 0x3000 for entended characters in ww6/7 ? An example or two perhaps. I've been stumped by lack of localized versions of word6/7 in this area. I never thought of wordpad.
Not being able to open asian wordpad files is a serious problem, I think 1.1.1 is a good target for this patch.
Changes integrated for 1.1.1 (corkfilterteam10)
Reopen to reassign
cmc->mru: Integrated into corkfilterteam10, have better import of these 6/7 asian formats now. (grats tono)
Yeah, Asian WW6 file now possible to open with OO.
Checked with OO 1.1.1 build srx645m27. Fix will be definitely in soon upcoming OO 1.1.1.
The fix is still not included in 680 codeline. The patch for SRC680 follows.

for better issue tracking is would make sense to open a new issue with OOo 2.0 target.
As MH pointed out, please file a new task, to cover this special OO 2.0 problem.
Closed.
